Happy Happy

Today was a realllly great day. It was my second Sunday back at my old church that I haven't been to in almost two years. I was late to the late service, but then afterwards I helped deliver food for Thanksgiving to those who need it. I went home, did a little bit of homework and then went back to church. I went into the crochet group that crochets afghans for those in hospice, and other than it having an amazing cause, I had a wonderful time. They taught me how to do a granny square, and I think I have the hang of it pretty well.

Here is the hat that I crocheted the other day:
I used the pattern from Nadine's Patterns for a replica of the hat Norah Jones wears in My Blueberry Nights. I haven't seen the movie yet, but I really loved the way the hat looked. The pattern was super easy to follow, but since I am still a beginner I had issues keeping the part wear you connect for the next row clean. I was really proud of myself for crocheting it in a couple hours. I am sure it takes other people a lot less time, but I am quite happy with it.

So for the rest of tonight I am focusing on finishing my artwork that is due on tuesday. Last night I played around with watered down acrylic paint. I used red and blue (and made purple, naturally) and I loved how the two colors intermingled within the brush strokes. None of them are considered finished paintings by any means, but I definitely would like to pursue something similar in the future.

It is great to be back : )
